General Contractor: Completion of New Construction
Description
In June 2004 the Rhode Island Credit Union, on recommendation
of the surety, hired Lusi Construction to complete the construction
of a new main facility. The Credit Union's new headquarters and
main branch is located directly across Francis Street from the
renowned Rhode Island State Capital. The building's design responds
to this prominent site by combining classical elements such as
columns and cornices with modern materials. The structure is clad
in Indiana limestone and large areas of glass, and is sheltered
by a lead-coated copper elliptical crowned roof. The landscape,
designed by Diane C. Soule & Associates of Smithfield, makes
innovative use of pattern-stamped asphalt and allows unobstructed
views of the State House and downtown Providence.
